In any given moment, you could stop and pay attention to your thoughts and be appalled at what you hear.

“I am not good enough.”

“You didn’t do that right.”

“You won’t succeed at this.”

“You shouldn’t have done that/said that.”

“You don’t matter.”

Have you noticed these types of things in your own mind? I certainly have.

For MANY years I believed these thoughts and they drove my feelings and my behaviors.

Thoughts create feelings and feelings drive behaviors.

Let me say that again: thoughts create feelings and feelings drive behaviors.

And to hammer in this point further, after you think, you choose. (This last part came from Dr. Caroline Leaf.)

So, what happens when we have a myriad of toxic thoughts running through our heads at any given moment?

Our behaviors reflect these thoughts. Any behavior that you have that is less than desirable likely came from a toxic thought pattern.

For many years, I drank too much and choose the worst relationships because my toxic thoughts were running my life.

I feel like I am declaring war on toxic thoughts. In my own life, and in my work. This is the exact reason why I write these emails, host a private FB group, teach workshops, and work 1:1 with students.

I don’t want to see beautifully designed people lose their lives and waste a single moment on toxic thoughts!! Because toxic thoughts destroy lives, ruin marriages, rob people of their potential to do GOOD in this suffering world, and steal the beauty in this ONE life.

I feel like I need to scream it from the roof tops! You are not your THOUGHTS.

It sounds like such an easy concept and once you know it, your life will be magically fixed. Sadly, that is not the case. However, knowing that you are NOT those toxic thoughts IS the first STEP toward change.

Those thoughts have been placed there for many reasons. Diving into the why might be important, but not as important as learning to separate from them.

Step one is to see them and to KNOW that they are not you.

This week in working with one of my 1:1 students, I told her to visualize a huge red STOP sign when she notices a toxic thought.

I implore you, today, to see this huge red STOP sign when you feel your mind heading down a dangerous path. For some of you, this path is so worn down that it will feel extremely difficult to believe that separating from these thoughts is possible. For so many of us, these toxic thoughts have driven our behavior and choices for many, many years.

I can promise you that it is possible to choose another path. My life and the life of my students is proof that there is a better way. The incessant suffering and rollercoaster of emotions does not have to define your life anymore.

The practice of changing thought patterns takes practice. The result is a completely transformed life. You see, you have been designed for a purpose. When toxic thoughts have run the show for ANY amount of time, you have not been able to step into that purpose.

Maybe it is time to see that STOP sign when you feel your mind heading down the wrong path.

My mission is to make people aware of these thoughts and to help them learn to change them. I teach habits and skills necessary to see the world in a totally different way so you can live the life that you were designed to live and choose happy and you can choose joy!

Challenges can be opportunities. Relationships can be transformed. Damaging habits CAN be stopped and replaced with new and empowering ones.

You are stronger than you ever thought possible. The strength lies inside of you and can be accessed.
