Let Go to Find Your Next Level of Happiness, Health, and Love

April 10, 20234 min read

One beautiful sunny afternoon, I was taking a walk around my yard, looking at my garden beds, grateful for spring time and thoughts of renewal.

I noticed a tulip plant sprouting through the dead leaves and grass that had laid like a blanket over the garden, after the winter thaw.

In the middle of all that dead and brittle debris, was life. That life was pushing through, no matter the difficulty or the resistance that it felt.

Perennials are a sign of resilience.

Despite frozen ground, dead leaves and debris covering their debut—they return— year after year, often growing stronger and larger.

They have a mission. Grow, rest, grow, rest, grow, rest … repeat until purposefully uprooted.

Perennials don’t spend time ruminating about whether or not they will return each year.

They don't say:

“Will the soil be ok this year?”

“Will my leaves look pretty enough?”

“Will I get enough water?”

“What if the other plants around me don’t like my flower?”

They simply emerge, leaving the past behind and forging ahead into the future.

They are on a mission! Come what may!

Is there something holding you back?

Are you lost in worry and standing on the sidelines?

Perennials are resilient and they will grow when the time is right.

However, when you rake away the dead leaves that have fallen on top on them, they grow even healthier and stronger.

Are you resilient? I bet that you are. If you follow my work, you are resilient. You care about growing and overcoming and doing your best.

I am proud of you. I am proud of all you have overcome and all you will accomplish.

It takes conscious effort to be ok in a world like this.

All of that work is worth it. And you are doing it, day by day, moment by moment, you are thriving.

It's time to go deeper so you can achieve your next level in this one short life.

Answer these questions:

What old and dead debris can you move out of your life in order to allow new growth to emerge?

What can you release?

Are there people that you need to release to create space?

What about wounds that need to be healed?

Are there expectations that you have about situations or people that need to be dropped?

What about the way that you spend your time? Does it allow for new growth, or do you feel bogged down by all the old and rotten?

Life is a precious gift. We have a short chance on this earth to do our best. We can choose to carry old burdens, or we can choose to work through them and let go.

Important: Letting go and releasing is for your ultimate growth. It doesn't mean that what happened to you was your fault or ok.

Letting go is a way to bring new life to your spirit. You may not even realize what level of empathy, health, or love is on the other side of letting go.

Make no mistake: it's a choice to let go and it's not easy.

I know because I have carried mountains on my back. And when I did, I made wrong choices, I was less than joyful, and had a hard time really loving anyone, especially myself or any partner.

You can choose.

It's not always simple.

“Just let go,” some say.

For me, it was never that simple. It was a process. I work with clients on letting go and wrote about it in Chapter 8 of my book.

The first step is to acknowledge and list exactly what is holding you back.

Everything starts with the awareness of what is.(That's Chapter 1 of the book. I hope you are reading it.)

Life is too short to carry mountains or even small hills on your back any longer.

You matter. Your life matters. It's time to live the life that you were designed to live.

So much love,

Rachel
